Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Water Resources Engineer Intern. This is a unique opportunity to advance your career with a growing water resources practice focusing on FEMA Flood Studies, Watershed Modeling, and Flood Mitigation.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Attain fundamental knowledge of FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program Perform (NFIP), associated policies, products, and processes.
  • Engage local and remote teams and staff to shadow and assist related engineering mapping, and program/project management activities.
  • Support ongoing business development and proposal capture. Extract and organize existing qualifications, quantities, and performance related information from internal sources.
  • Effectively convey project work, schedules and results in technical documents.

Qualifications
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Prior experience performing engineering calculations
  • Prior experience writing technical documents
  • Possesses excellent time management skills
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with project team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Presentation and interview skills

Preferred Additional Capabilities
  • Engineering methods, experience or familiarity:
    • Hydrology and Hydraulics: USACE HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), USACE HEC-HMS, USGS National Streamflow Statistics, Probabilistic vs Deterministic modeling principles.
  • Mapping methods, experience or familiarity:
    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS). ESRI Arc products, Model Builder, Python, and advanced analysis tools

Education and Experience
  • Enrolled in an accredited University or College and pursuing a degree Civil, Biosystems, or Environmental Engineering

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
