This SkillBridge opportunity is with Pratt & Whitney

RTX is a provider of SkillBridge Fellowship opportunities for transitioning service members to gain an in-depth understanding of the aerospace and defense business from some of the most respected leaders and engineers in the industry. SkillBridge fellows will not be eligible for any compensation during their fellowship, as they will continue to receive all military pay and benefits. Upon successful completion of this fellowship, you will be well prepared and encouraged to apply for open positions listed on our careers page.

To be eligible for a SkillBridge, you must meet the following requirements:

Must be on Active-Duty orders in the U.S. Armed Forces

Must be eligible to participate per DoD Instruction 1322.29.

Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.

Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.

What You Will Do:

Training & mentorship opportunities include, but are not limited to:

Under direction of leader/supervisor, follow assembly drawings and/or specifications and computer information systems to prepare parts and build subassemblies, modules and accessories for new gas turbine engines where tooling and process methods are established. Perform similar duties assisting with engine test operations and performing component and accessory tests as assigned. Use overhaul and repair procedures and specifications to perform the mechanical work to overhaul engines, modules and related components. Obtain parts, check details for conformance to assembly requirements and fit and measure components to assure overall dimensions are within limits specified. Use mechanic's hand tools, holding fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment to build engine sections and perform installation of details and maintain equipment and tooling for assigned areas. Provide related support for test operations and assist with testing under direct supervision and specific test schedules. Perform similar duties to assist with co-producer, customer support or other similar programs, retrofit projects and to accommodate new engine programs and assist with changes in specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be eligible to participate in DoW SkillBridge
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Military Aviation Powerplant, Airframes, or Avionics Technical Training

  • F135 / F100 Jet Engine Mechanic
  • F139 Jet Engine Mechanic
  • Jet Engine experience
  • Airframe, Avionics, Flight Line experience
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
