Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Anduril is building Arsenal-1, its first hyperscale manufacturing facility, just south of Columbus, Ohio in Pickaway County. Arsenal-1 is redefining the scale and speed at which autonomous systems and weapons can be produced for the United States and its allies. It is a monumental step toward rebuilding America's defense industrial base and strengthening deterrence.

Roadrunner is a cutting-edge VTOL counter-UAS interceptor for autonomous air defense. It rapidly detects, tracks, and neutralizes hostile unmanned aircraft to protect critical assets and personnel. The Roadrunner team sets the standard for building the future at Arsenal-1 (Ashville, OH). New team members train under our world-class manufacturing team at Anduril HQ in Costa Mesa, CA for three months before bringing that standard back to Ohio.

This role requires relocation to Costa Mesa for a 3-month training program (housing, transportation, and related costs provided), and then relocation to Arsenal-1 in Ohio.

ABOUT THE JOB

You will help industrialize a Roadrunner product area, taking it from current rate toward high-volume deployment. You will own the build package for your scope, drive manufacturability into the design, create and improve the line, and keep production moving. If you thrive under the pressure of scaling a critical product with immediate, real-world impact, this is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Execute the manufacturing of a product or sub-assembly from prototype through full-rate production, and own its build package.
  • Partner with design early to drive DFM and producibility into the design, and help move it from design to prototype to rate.
  • Author the documentation to build at scale, including MBOMs, work instructions and requirements, tooling and fixtures, and process specs.
  • Root-cause and resolve floor issues using RCCA and 5-why, and drive process changes that improve cost, quality, and capacity.
  • Support capacity and rate planning with planning teams and internal customers to meet demand.
  • Operate with incomplete or still-evolving design inputs: ask the right questions, work from first principles, and create structure where none yet exists.
  • Partner with Quality, technicians, and vendors to hold quality and unblock production, and travel to suppliers as needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years in manufacturing or NPI of electromechanical hardware, or equivalent hands-on build experience.
  • Degree in an engineering or technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • ME fundamentals: reading engineering drawings and GD&T, DFM, work instructions, and tooling and fixtures.
  • You have physically built hardware through machining, fabrication, soldering, or assembly; personal or extracurricular projects count.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, high rate and volume, and delivering in a resource-constrained environment.
  • A world-class quality and mission mindset, a genuine hunger to learn, and flexibility for critical pushes.
  • U.S. Citizen. Willing to relocate to Ohio (Arsenal-1) after the 3-month Costa Mesa training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High-rate manufacturing background in aerospace, automotive and EV, industrial, or medical device.
  • Exposure to aircraft, aerospace, and defense programs, plus harness and PCBA or SMT experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher); familiarity with J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC/WHMA-A-620; software scripting in any language.
