POSITION SUMMARY


The Frontier Justice Range Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of all individuals and activities within the firearms range facility. This role involves monitoring range operations, enforcing safety protocols, maintaining access control, responding to emergencies, and providing support during training sessions. The officer works closely with range personnel and patrons to promote a secure and controlled environment in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.


PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Customer Service and Public Interaction

  • Greet guests courteously while maintaining a firm and professional demeanor.
  • Provide guidance on range rules and offer basic assistance when needed.
  • Support the Frontier Justice mission by educating guests on responsible firearm use and safety expectations.


Range Safety and Oversight

  • Always maintain a visible security presence on the shooting range during operational hours.
  • Observe and ensure adherence to all range safety rules, procedures, and commands.
  • Intervene immediately in any unsafe handling of firearms or equipment.
  • Managing guest behavior and ensuring smooth flow on the range.
  • Identify and remove any individuals exhibiting dangerous, erratic, or non-compliant behavior.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs and checks of shooting lanes, entryways, safety gear, and emergency exits.


Security and Emergency Response

  • Monitor surveillance systems and range activity to identify suspicious or unauthorized conduct.
  • De-escalate situations calmly and professionally; initiate emergency protocols when necessary.
  • Respond to all incidents, accidents, injuries, or conflicts promptly and according to Frontier Justice protocol.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency medical responders when needed.
  • Write detailed incident and security reports accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Participate in ongoing safety training and professional development opportunities.


Requirements:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, college degree/hours preferred
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Comfortable working around firearms with a strong commitment to enforcing safety practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain composed and courteous in a high-traffic, high-responsibility environment
  • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods on hard concrete floors
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours (evenings/weekends/holidays)
  • Must have current Range Safety Officer certification or acquired within 7 days of hire


Preferred:

  • Prior experience in retail, customer service, or firearms sales
  • Familiarity with federal and state firearm laws and regulations
  • Experience with 4473 forms and firearms compliance procedures
  • Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and range operations
  • Previous Range Safety Officer certification or experience a plus
