WE LOVE OUR WORK.
  • Maintains a stable area that is clean, neat and sanitary condition.
  • Assists Racing Secretary with stall assignments.
  • Maintains records of all stalls and ensure horses are quartered in assigned stalls.
  • Assists horsemen with maintenance/other requests.
  • Maintains and coordinates walker assignments and payments.
  • Maintains and coordinates tack room assignments and payments.
  • Assures receiving barn is ready each day.
  • Monitosr daily stable area activities and practices in the barn area and on the racetrack for compliance with the applicable State Racing Commission safety regulations and the Rules of the Authority.
  • Conducts pre-Race Meet racetrack safety inspections.
  • Monitors Outrider compliance with Racetrack rules during training.
  • Monitors starting gate procedures.
  • Monitors ambulance and medical personnel protocols for Covered Horses and Jockeys in cooperation with the Medical Director.
  • Assists Regulatory Veterinarians with follow-up on Covered Horses barred from training or vanned off during training and racing.
  • Reviews ship-in and ship-out lists and undertakes appropriate investigations.
  • Conduct random HISA registration checks for Covered Persons in the stable area.
  • Conducts random barn inspections to monitor safety and regulatory compliance, including fire safety regulations.
  • Conducts random inspections to verify acceptable management, equine husbandry, and veterinary practices.
  • Enforces fire safety rules in the stable area.
  • Serves as a member or ex officio member of the Racetrack Risk Management Committee.
  • Makes recommendations to Racetrack management and racing officials to ensure the safety and welfare of Covered Horses and Jockeys and compliance with applicable horse racing laws and regulations.

Education and/or Experience: Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or equivalent
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of America money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Possess ability to operate an adding machine and have basic computer skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
