The National Center for Victims of Crime is a nonprofit organization that advocates for victims' rights, trains professionals who work with victims, and serves as a trusted source of information on victims' issues. After more than 25 years, we remain the most comprehensive national resource committed to advancing victims' rights and helping victims of crime rebuild their lives.
The National Center is, at its core, an advocacy organization committed to -- and working on behalf of -- crime victims and their families. Rather than focus the entire organization's work on one type of crime or victim, the National Center addresses all types of crime.
Job Description
The technology coordinator will work alongside the Technology Director in supporting the technology operations team in completing goals related to technology infrastructure and processes for the National Center, specifically the hotline programs. This includes working with departments to understand needs, establish priorities, and complete tasks and projects for the technology operations team.
A successful candidate will have the technical skills to be able to work independently to complete project tasks and with the full NCVC team to create a technology strategic plan. This person will work to ensure the 24/7 uptime of technology systems for National Center programs, including the DC Victim Hotline and national VictimConnect Resource Center. This staff member will need to use the lens of victim services and connection with the victim community to all goals of the technology program.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Technology in the creation strategic plan in collaboration with program staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization's Hotline technology.
  • Manage the organization's data network and telephony infrastructure, ensuring uptime of key system interconnectivity components, and for all end-user systems and devices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technology needs and troubleshooting. Triage requests and make sure they get to the right person to solve the problem.
  • Work directly with RAINN and the Deputy Manager of Victim Services to manage the hotline/helpline telephony systems.
  • Assist the Director of Technology in establishing a well-documented technology operations baseline and information security baseline.
  • Assist the Director of Technology in administering RFPs for new software and technology;
  • Collaborate in application development projects where applicable.
  • Communicate actively with all departments to make sure they are getting the IT support they require and discuss potential solutions to their needs.
  • Work with the technology operations team to create and uphold an IT help desk, which includes owning appropriate incoming tickets.
  • Provide support and improvements for all computers, servers, and systems in production. Oversee the maintenance and support of all on-site systems, including servers and computers.
  • Work with the Project Manager of Victim Services and Hotline Operations Coordinator to ensure 24/7/365 availability of hotline/helpline services and Create and maintain Technology Operations documentation.
  • Identify new areas for technology system growth and improvement, and take initiative to propose potential solutions.
  • Manage, support, and update the organization's websites as needed.
  • Assist in the creation of the organization's new website.
  • Administer the National Center's Intranet.
  • Ability to administer Salesforce when needed.
  • Support the organization's Google Suite platform
  • Ability to administer Microsoft systems.
  • Uphold National Center's mission and values.
  • Assist with other duties related to the work of the technology team as needed.
  • Act as primary backup to the Director of Technology, especially relating to management of the organization's web properties.

Other Information:
  • This position requires a criminal background check and is an FLSA exempt position.
  • This position reports to the Technology Director.
  • This position allows telework up to two days per week, after a successful probationary period

Location: Washington, DC. Anticipated work schedule is 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday with some flexibility if the position allows and on-call hours as needed. The office is located near Metrorail stations on the red line, blue line, silver line, and orange line, and several Metrobus stops. Secure on-site parking is also available.
The office is located in a building with wheelchair accessible features such as ADA compliant exterior doors and elevators. Staff work in a semi-open environment with shared spaces and moderate noise volume.
