Clients are turning to us for Design/Build and other alternative project delivery methods due to our successful track record in transportation design and construction!  We are looking for an experienced Heavy Rail Bridge Engineer for our Structures group, who is an innovative problem solver with a passion for technical excellence to add to our new office in the West Lake/Fort Worth area!  We have a great backlog of work, new pursuits and existing design build projects for you to work on.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects.  Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk.  Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety.   Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. This role could be based out of our offices in:

Responsibilities

    Lead and perform engineering design tasks and coordinate with CADD teams in developing plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final design of standard bridges, walls, substructures, foundations and other transportation structures (Culverts, Inlet structures, etc.)  Mentor and lead other junior engineers and review/check designs of junior staff.  
    Identify and understand technical requirements of design projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions.  
    Identify, interpret, and apply appropriate design standards and codes; ensure compliance with contract documents

    Participate in technical meetings and discussions; strategize innovative solutions to complex or unique technical problems.  Coordinate/communicate with clients, partners, and other disciplines.
    Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits

* May lead a subset/segment of a project where you have project engineering responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Masters Preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years experience in relevant structural/bridge engineering design.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Worked on a variety of projects including Class I railroads, shortlines, industrial and transit clients
  • Perform bridge engineering/design calculations, developing structural details, inspecting bridges and performing load rating calculations
  • Demonstrated history of being a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks
  • Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
  • Experience coordinating work across a geographical area with multiple offices/projects.
  • Experience with Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods, preferred.
  • Experience with seismic design and analysis, preferred.
  • Preferred experience with engineering design software, i.e. programs such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, PGSuper, etc.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to travel as business requires.
