Job description

Vehicle Yard Driver – Elwood, IL

Company: Road & Rail Services
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Position Type: Full-Time
Availability: Weekends required

Drive New Vehicles and Stay Active

Road & Rail Services is looking for safety-minded drivers to support vehicle-processing operations in Elwood, Illinois. You will check new vehicles for visible damage and transport them between designated locations on the customer's property before shipment.

This job takes place in an active vehicle yard and requires regular outdoor work. It is not a delivery, rideshare, or valet position. It may be a great fit if you enjoy driving, working independently, and moving throughout your shift.

Primary Duties

In this position, you will:

Walk around each vehicle and inspect it before movement

Document or report existing damage and safety issues

Transport vehicles through the facility using approved routes

Place vehicles in their assigned parking bays

Help maintain accurate vehicle inventory

Follow site traffic rules and all applicable safety procedures

Assist with tag-and-rinse wash operations at applicable locations

Maintain clean and orderly work areas

Perform additional operational tasks as directed by management

Qualifications

Candidates should:

Hold a valid state driver's license when operating company vehicles or equipment

Report to work consistently and on time

Understand and follow verbal and written directions

Work carefully around moving vehicles in a fast-paced environment

Wear required personal protective equipment correctly

Have flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and adjusted schedules when business demands require it

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Most duties are completed outside in a working automotive facility. Employees must be prepared to:

Perform work in hot or cold temperatures, rain, dust, noise, and changing weather

Remain standing or walking for extended periods

Regularly bend, kneel, turn, and reach when entering and exiting vehicles or shuttle vans

Stay attentive while working near vehicle traffic

Encounter water mist, moisture, and condensation when assigned near tag-and-rinse equipment
