Job description

Job Title: Plant Associate/Rail-car Laborer
Location: Port Barre, LA and Jeanerette, LA
Shift: 1st shift
Salary: Starting Pay: $20.00/hr
Company Overview:
At Quality Liquid Feeds, our philosophy is to hire the right people, place them in the right spot, and let them do their job. We are currently seeking a diligent and skilled Production Associate/Rail-car Laborer to join our dynamic team at our Port Barre, LA Facility. This position is a full-time hybrid position that will perform duties at the Port Barre, LA facility and the Jeanerette, LA QLF rail yard.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate production equipment and machinery according to established procedures.
  • Follow production schedules, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished goods.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities.
  • Perform basic product inspections and quality checks.
  • Complete production or inventory records accurately.
  • Identify and report quality or compliance issues.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and company procedures.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Maintain cleanliness of production areas, equipment, and common spaces.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning.
  • Support basic facility upkeep tasks as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with team members.
  • Assist during busy periods, downtime, or special projects.
  • Coordinate schedules - must be available to load cars 2-3 times a week according to the rail-car schedule. (Required days of the week change weekly sometimes daily according to the rail schedule). During the annual Grind will need availability 5-6 days a week. If rail is not scheduled, attendance at the Port Barre manufacturing plant is mandatory.
  • Handle Inbound & Outbound ingredient at the loading/unloading facility and load onto rail-car
  • Report all spills immediately to Rail Manager
  • Maintain equipment, preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean and neat in appearance
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, company safety rules, and policies and procedures

Perform overtime and other duties and functions as required
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided.
  • High school level reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • The ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with various individuals.
  • Ability to work effectively in and promote a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
This is an active role requiring regular standing, climbing, and lifting (up to 100 lbs). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable the performance of essential duties and responsibilities.
Work Environment:
You'll experience a mix of indoor and outdoor conditions, with exposure to moderate noise and adverse weather elements. Safety and quality are always top priorities.
