Rail Loader

As a Rail Loader with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, you'll take on challenging hands-on work that keeps the world moving - literally!

Job Description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The job is tough, but for those who thrive on responsibility and take pride in job well done, it's truly rewarding. In this role, responsibilities you can expect are:

  • Prepare railcars for shipment, opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, blowing trash out of railcars, chocking vehicles, chock replacement 
  • Load and unload vehicles onto railcars in compliance with company quality standards
  • Ensure vehicles are properly spaced within the rail, secure vehicles according to customer standards onto outbound railcars
  • Maintain buck loader/ramps-lubing railcars, graphite door tracks, and other moving mechanical parts, etc.
  • Conduct monthly inspections on bridge plates and paint bridge plates as needed.

  • Previous rail department or mechanical experience preferred
  • Physically able to safely lift 50 lbs. at shoulder level              
  • Able to work within the confined spaces of a railcar and work at heights of 20 feet
