Your Team:
The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) lead the agency's effort to works closely with other HPD divisions and outside community partners to identify buildings in distress assess and develop appropriate strategies to address those properties and work closely with responsible owners to develop a plan to improve conditions and return buildings to firm financial footing and physical health. OENS uses enforcement tools within its Division of Code Enforcement, Housing Litigation Division, Emergency Repair Program, the Division of Neighborhood Preservation and the Division of Special Enforcement to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services is composed of seven divisions: Data Management & Technology (DMT), Division of Neighborhood Preservation (DNP), Administration & Internal Compliance (AIC), Housing Litigation Division (HLD), Division of Code Enforcement (DCE), and Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement Division (EOD) and Division of Emergency Housing Services (EHS).
Your Impact
Under the Maintenance Supervisor's direct supervision, the selected candidate will be responsible for making necessary repairs for the improvement of poor housing conditions through the Emergency Repair Program.
Your Role:
Your role will be a Field Repair Tech/Senior Repair Crew Chief in the Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement Division. You will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Your Responsibilities:
- Plumbing, painting, roofing, window guard installation, carpentry, locks repair, oil burner repair, prime and start
up, radiator repair, seal ups and plastering;
- Obtaining necessary supplies from local vendors or Agency warehouse and transporting supplies and tools to
the assigned work sites;
- Tracking work performed and supplies utilized as directed;
- Preparing written reports of inspections and/or entering related data into the computer systems
- Must have the ability to determine the tools and supplies needed for
the specific assignment;
- May be required to provide training to staff in the areas of repair and other rehabilitation skills.
- May supervise one or more Repair Crew Chiefs' in the performance of their duties, reviewing and evaluating inspection reports of subordinate, and other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills:
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be proficient with PC software applications, such as Excel and Microsoft Word.

- Valid Driver's License

Candidates may be assigned to any of the five boroughs and may be scheduled to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
(a) Five years of satisfactory full-time experience in building construction, renovation, or repair in one or more of the following fields: electrical, plumbing, plastering, carpentry, painting, roofing, glazing, or heating; two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
(b) a satisfactory equivalent. However, all candidates must have at least two years of supervisory experience in building construction, renovation, or repair. Education in an accredited college or university or in a relevant training program will be accepted to meet the non-supervisory experience requirement on a month-for-month basis up to a maximum of two years. Part-time experience will be accepted on a pro-rated basis.
