The opportunity

Delaware North Gaming is a part-time Race Official to join our team at  Finger Lakes Gaming in Farmington, New York. Under the direction of the Racing Secretary, assist, fill in and train others in all aspects of racing jobs; Placing Judge, Paddock Judge, Clerk of Scales and Horse Identifier, in accordance with New York State Gaming Commission, Company’s applicable Operational Standards and GuestPath Universal Service Standards.

What will you do?
  • Take entries in the morning
  • Read, proof, and make any necessary corrections to the programs
  • Maintain and keep up to date lasix information and eligibility requirements
  • Assist in hustling horses for the race schedule.
  • Ensure all New York State Gaming Commission regulations and procedures are being followed
  • Must have experience with Incompass computer system and be able to utilize all aspects of the system
  • Assists training current and new associates on proper procedures and regulations
  • Have appropriate skills to deal with guest complaints and help defuse difficult, and sometimes emotionally charged, situations to maintain the guest's goodwill and respect.
  • Treats each person, customer or associate as an individual and in a professional 
More about you
  • Minimum High School diploma, GED or TASC

  • Must have the ability to be licensed by the New York State Gaming Commission

  • Must be experienced with Thoroughbred horses, racetrack experience required

  • Minimum of Five Years experience with Thoroughbred horses required

  • Racetrack experience required, minimum Two Year

  • Intermediate computer skills: micro soft office, e-mail

  • Equibase preferred

  • Basic math skills, addition and subtraction

  • Ability to perform tasks independently

  •  Ability to understand and follow OSHA guidelines

  • Ability to adhere to GuestPath’s Universal Service Standards

Physical requirements
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to maneuver around horses

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to input data into computer system

  • Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform duties

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 30 pounds occasionally

  • Visual acuity sufficient for knowing activity in surroundings

  •  Exposed to outdoor weather conditions in all seasons, including variable temperatures and wet and/or humid conditions

  • Noise level may be moderate to high

  • Work around Thoroughbred Horse
