Both roles often require HR-related certifications and work within similar environments, but their core responsibilities differ significantly.

Can I be a recruiter without a degree?

Recruiters can often enter the field without a degree, as many employers prioritize relevant skills such as communication, sales, and familiarity with applicant tracking systems over formal education. However, having a degree or certifications in human resources or related areas can improve job prospects and advancement opportunities.

What do job recruiters actually do?

Job recruiters identify and attract qualified candidates for open positions by reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers. They facilitate the hiring process, negotiate offers, and often use applicant tracking systems to manage candidate information. Recruiters need strong communication skills and industry knowledge to match candidates with suitable roles efficiently.

  • You can expect to face rejection (especially when cold calling) throughout the day as this is a sales role, so you must be able to be resilient and motivated to pick yourself back up and keep pushing forward
