What You Will Do

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities discipline seeks talented Systems Engineers. Our team located in Marlborough, MA integrates hardware and software, develops test plans and procedures, debugs and evaluates system functions and interfaces, and verifies system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts.

You will support elements of program development, engineering testing, integration, flight-testing, production, system deployment, and/or post deployment support across the product lifecycle.

This position is an onsite role in Marlborough, MA. Test event support activity may require travel which is not expected to exceed 20%.

  • Support engineering activities related to testing and troubleshooting of hardware and software
  • Functional analysis of real world and test data; trade studies to bring advanced features to fielded system
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • System integration and test support, possibly including live fire test events
  • Support activity may require travel
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB
  • Support qualification of our products
  • Sustainment/Depot returns and repair
  • Maintain engineering specifications (DS, ARD, etc.) & drawing (Schematics & Assembly Drawings)
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
  • Maintain engineering databases
  • Participate in periodic team meetings, interface teleconference meetings, working group meetings

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session. 
  • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues in an academic or internship setting, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

  Qualifications We Prefer  

  • Strong undergraduate level understanding of electrical, mechanical and/or software system integration, familiarity with C/C++/C# preferred
  • Experience with or exposure to various military platforms such as ships, ground combat systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft
  • Experience with tools, such as MATLAB or Python scripting, for instrumentation and collection of large data sets, data analysis and automation
  • Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
