Job description


The Equipment Engineer will analyze equipment performance, manage preventive maintenance strategies, oversee equipment qualifications and calibration programs, and partner with Operations, Quality, EH&S, and Engineering teams to ensure equipment availability, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Reliability & Performance
  • Own the reliability and performance of production and R&D equipment to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve equipment uptime, downtime, availability, and recovery metrics.
  • Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze runtime and downtime data to support equipment replacement, upgrade, and capital investment decisions.
  • Develop and track equipment performance KPIs, including MTBF, MTTR, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Maintenance & Asset Management
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Establish maintenance frequencies based on manufacturer recommendations, equipment criticality, and operating history.
  • Maintain critical spare parts inventory to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate and oversee equipment repairs, upgrades, and refurbishment activities.
  • Support emergency troubleshooting activities as required.

Equipment Installation & Capital Projects
  • Lead equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders on equipment acquisition, relocation, and improvement projects.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Review equipment designs and installation requirements to ensure compliance with operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support facility expansion and manufacturing capacity growth initiatives.

CMMS & Calibration Management
  • Utilize the Cumulus CMMS system to:
    • Schedule and manage preventive maintenance activities.
    • Track equipment repairs and service history.
    • Monitor equipment calibration requirements and status.
    • Document maintenance procedures and work instructions.
    • Track and trend equipment reliability metrics.
  • Ensure all manufacturing and support equipment remain compliant with calibration requirements.

Required Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of equipment engineering, maintenance engineering, or manufacturing engineering experience in semiconductor, medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, electronics, or other advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience utildzing CMMS systems and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of industrial equipment maintenance and reliability engineering experience.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting cleanroom manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with equipment validation, IQ/OQ/PQ, and regulated manufacturing operations.

Technical Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of:
  • Automated manufacturing equipment and support systems
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies
  • CMMS systems and asset management practices
  • Root cause analysis and reliability engineering tools
  • Equipment calibration programs
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Process cooling and chilled water systems
  • Compressed air generation and distribution systems

Physical Requirements
This position may require occasional physical activity, including:
  • Walking, climbing, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Working around manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing instruments.
  • Lifting and carrying materials or equipment up to 50 pounds on occasion
