What is a quantum software engineer?

A Quantum Software Engineer develops algorithms, software, and applications for quantum computers. They work with quantum programming languages like Qiskit, Cirq, or PennyLane to implement quantum algorithms that solve complex problems more efficiently than classical computers. Their role involves understanding quantum mechanics, optimizing quantum circuits, and collaborating with researchers to bridge the gap between theory and practical implementation.

What does a quantum software engineer do?

Quantum Software Engineers usually spend their days designing, coding, and testing quantum algorithms, often using specialized quantum software libraries and simulators. They collaborate closely with quantum physicists, classical software engineers, and researchers to translate theoretical concepts into efficient, practical solutions. Regular tasks also include debugging code, optimizing performance on quantum and hybrid systems, and staying updated with the latest advances in quantum hardware and software. Effective teamwork and ongoing learning are central to success in this dynamic, research-driven environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a quantum software engineer?

To thrive as a Quantum Software Engineer, you need a deep understanding of quantum computing principles, proficiency in classical programming languages (such as Python or C++), and experience with quantum SDKs (like Qiskit or Cirq), often supported by a degree in computer science, physics, or a related field. Familiarity with simulators, cloud-based quantum platforms, and sometimes certifications in quantum programming are also highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills, and adaptability help set excellent candidates apart. These skills and qualities are vital for building practical quantum applications and advancing technology in a rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field.

How much does a quantum software engineer make?

Quantum software engineers typically earn between $100,000 and $150,000 annually, with experienced professionals and those working at leading tech companies earning higher salaries. Job description

Our mission is clear and staggeringly important: we're building the manufacturing operating system of the future from the ground up, one that's engineered to create network effects as we grow. A beautiful, sophisticated quantum leap forward for the most important core industry in the world.
Manufacturing is important. It's the fundamental industry on which everything else is built. We take it for granted. In 1989, 35% of the entire software industry was manufacturing systems. What was the first massive burst in productivity from technology has stagnated into diminishing returns and increasing complexity. We can only continue to add complexity for so much longer until the whole system collapses.
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction." - Albert Einstein
We value talent over experience
We place the team above the individual
We want to build really elegant things that actually help our customers
We are practical perfectionists
Who you are
  • Curious, resilient, and hungry to learn
  • Empathetic - you deeply understand people and what motivates them
  • Competitive and disciplined, with above-average grit
  • Comfortable hearing "no" and rebounding quickly
  • Energized by goals, metrics, and personal growth
  • Clear, adaptable communicator who can tailor a message to different audiences
  • Detail-oriented and thoughtful about how you approach your work
  • Restless in the best way - always pushing to get better
  • Open to coaching and eager to apply feedback
  • Motivated by impact over ego - team wins matter more than individual credit

What the job is
  • Research and deeply understand manufacturers, their challenges, and motivations
  • Prospect into new accounts through outbound and inbound channels
  • Craft thoughtful, compelling outreach tailored to different audiences
  • Qualify leads and generate high-quality opportunities for Account Executives
  • Work closely with Account Executives to align on messaging and strategy
  • Partner with Marketing to test, refine, and improve campaigns
  • Aggressively learn new industries, skills, and product knowledge
  • Track and manage your pipeline with discipline and accuracy
  • Relentlessly pursue your targets while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Demand personal growth from yourself and raise your own bar over time
  • This role rewards consistency, curiosity, and resilience. It's about learning fast, executing well, and building skills.

Who you'll work with
  • Account Executives who will close the deals you help create
  • Marketing partners shaping our messaging and lead strategy
  • Sales Leadership provides coaching, feedback, and development

Salary range & benefits
  • $50,000-$60,000 base // $122,000-$132,000 OTE (uncapped) + equity

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Wellbeing benefits and perks
  • Unlimited vacation policy with required minimums
  • Cell phone & internet plan coverage

This role is open to candidates located in the U.S. and authorized to work here. We're not able to offer visa sponsorship or consider international applicants at this time.
$50,000 - $132,000 a year
We're looking for go-getters who have a passion for helping small businesses and want to take an active role in transforming the manufacturing industry.
Candidates should be able to commute to our Minneapolis office or be willing to relocate.
The market tells us we're on the right track: +50% year over year growth but we know to not rest on our laurels and that there's a lot of stuff to build and a huge amount of work to be done. We're looking for people who can stand alongside us and work hard to make our dreams become reality in the fastest, smoothest, and best way possible.
If you're someone who is obsessed with making amazing things, being the best, and wanting your work to contribute to something excellent, please reach out.
