Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer IV ensures the highest quality for MRO and OEM product and certifications. Supports AS9100 QMS, FAA RSM, EASA, CAAC, JCAB, NADCAP regulatory processes. Knowledge and support of calibration control, Corrective Action process, internal/supplier auditor, AS9102 inspection, AS9145 APQP/PPAP Process and root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Acts proactively supporting safety at all times. Safety is ALWAYS first.
  • Support methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment
  • Ensures products adhere to quality standards
  • Collects, analyzes reports data supporting continuous improvement
  • Supports regulatory audits: FAA, JCAB, CAAC, C.A.S.E, AS9100, NADCAP, Honeywell S/R and including any Customer Audits requested.
  • Supports the following Quality Manuals: QRSM, RSTM, QMSM, CAAC MOM, and EASA Supplement.
  • Supports Initial and Re-Current training of our Quality System including manuals.
  • Creation of APQP/PPAP and AS9102 FAI documents
  • Investigates warranty returns and/or Customer Concerns (CCN) through corrective action process to determine root cause.
  • Supports FAA Regulatory Requirements.
  • Supports and promotes a Zero-Defect Culture.
  • Audits internal processes to FAA, Other regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Audits supplier’s quality and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance to purchase order and other requirements
  • Perform basic measurements using micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages and optical comparators.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gages and height gages.
  • Interpret drawings, certifications and military/industry specifications.
  • Support MRB activities, achieving optimal disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Maintain and communicate monthly quality metrics
  • Ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers to develop strong relationships.
  • Ability to adapt, communicate, be decisive, be dependable, and take initiative.
  • As required, performs work assignments as directed.

Required qualification / Education / and/or Experience:

  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering—such as industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, electrical—or in a related technical field like operations management or equivalent level of experience.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office suite.
  • Must be proficient in Excel to organize and analyze data, including pivot tables.
  • Must be proficient in Statistics & data analysis.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be capable to write, read, and speak English at a college level.
  • Ability to organize priorities, daily tasks and completed actions on time, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to pass DOT/FAA drug screening.
  • Must be able to pass FAA required vision test
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible to obtain a US Passport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level II or III NDT Operator
  • Perform Final Inspection with return to service tags (FAA, CAAC, and JCAB)
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations and their applications.
  • Strong technical background due to experience in different mechanical and technical fields.
  • Previous experience with airlines, MRO and Repair Station operation companies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Quantum ERP software.
  • The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of aircraft components with a technical knowledge of rigid tube components and their operating systems.

Travel – 10%

Reporting to this Position:

  • No direct reports.

Relationships:

  • Reports to Quality Manager
  • Daily interaction with all levels within RBC Bearings and customers
