Job description

Help Infleqtion build the future of quantum in Illinois.

Infleqtion is seeking a self-motivated, energetic Project Manager to help deliver an advanced quantum computing platform and coordinate our work across the Illinois quantum ecosystem. In this role, you will help connect technical plans, customer commitments, vendor activity, site readiness, and business priorities into one coordinated execution plan.

You will contribute directly to Infleqtion’s private-public partnership with the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) and the National Quantum Algorithms Center (NQAC). This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced technology, infrastructure, research, and customer delivery while helping a multidisciplinary team turn ambitious quantum programs into real operational progress.

You do not need detailed knowledge of quantum computing to succeed in this role. You do need enough technical fluency to understand system-level dependencies, ask good questions, identify risks early, and communicate clearly with scientific, engineering, operations, vendor, and customer stakeholders.

What You’ll Help Build

You will work closely with technical leads, operations teams, vendors, facilities personnel, and customer stakeholders to translate technical plans and contractual commitments into coordinated execution that meets customer and business needs.

This role is a strong fit for a project leader who enjoys bringing structure to complex technical work, creating clarity across teams, and helping scientific and engineering programs move from planning through delivery, installation, commissioning, acceptance, and documentation.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and maintain the integrated project plan, including milestones, schedules, dependencies, risks, actions, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Partner with technical leads to align engineering plans with contractual and business requirements, translating them into clear actions, owners, deadlines, and completion criteria.
  • Work with the technical team to identify critical paths and help deliver on time and on budget.
  • Coordinate execution across technical, operations, supply chain, IT, facilities, finance, legal, commercial, vendor, and customer teams.
  • Lead project communications and meetings, provide clear status reporting, follow up on commitments, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate site readiness, procurement, equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, acceptance, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, project work, and evidence of completion.
  • Identify process gaps and help drive practical improvements through resolution.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Typically 4+ years managing technical, engineering, hardware, infrastructure, or complex R&D projects.
  • Experience owning schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to understand complex technical work well enough to identify dependencies, ask effective questions, and communicate project impacts.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with project-management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar systems.
  • Ability to travel periodically.

It’s a Plus If You Have:

  • Experience delivering or commissioning complex scientific or industrial equipment.
  • Experience in quantum technology, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, or another complex hardware environment.
  • Experience working with universities, government organizations, research institutions, or public-sector customers.
  • Familiarity with facility readiness, equipment transport and delivery, IT infrastructure, procurement, and supplier management.
  • Experience with contractual deliverables, acceptance criteria, change control, and customer reporting.
  • Experience with inventory management.
  • PMP certification or comparable project-management training.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,000-$115,000 per year
  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, short/long-term disability
  • Employer-funded Health Savings Account
  • Unlimited PTO
  • 401(k) match
  • Company-paid Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Flexible Savings Account
  • Paid FMLA, Maternity/Paternity Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Student Loan Repayment
  • Equity Package
