Job description

JOB SUMMARY

As the key leader of the Prince Industries Quality Team, this "Hands-On" manager will report to the General Manager and play a key role in the support of customers as well as production facility.  As the Quality Manager you will have excellent leadership (Lead, manage & keep people accountable) and decision-making skills. You are responsible for the quality management system (ISO 9001:2015, AS9100) compliance.  You will manage all company-wide, quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure the company of continuous conformance with appropriate standards and regulations, understand and manage document control, quality auditing, and continuous improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
  • Acting as a key contact with customers' auditors and being responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Providing frequent quality reports on the state of the Quality (internal/external).
  • Act as the voice of the customer within the organization with regards to quality concern and product performance.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and quality issues.
  • Maintaining a constant awareness of the business context and company profitability.
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
  • Bringing together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to formulate and agree on comprehensive quality procedures. 
  • Supervising technical staff in carrying out all necessary inspection activities, document creation, quality engineering, metrological process design and calibration.
  • Ensuring procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated.
  • Writing technical and management system reports as required.
  • Supports the internal auditing system and procedures.
  • Pinpointing relevant quality-related training needs.
  • Working closely with purchasing staff to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor and report supplier performance.
  • Assessing suppliers' product specifications and quality plans. 
  • Being a liaison to other managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing, tying in and providing clarity within the quality system
  • Utilize business system tools and analytics to ensure adequate resources are in place to meet growth/capacity requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Gauge calibration experience.
  • CMM programming/operating experience.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop metrology
  • Must be excellent at reading drawings/blueprints.
  • Experience in all required quality engineering phases.
  • Must have experience leading teams in PPAP, APQP and FMEA.
  • Epicor knowledge.
  • 6 Sigma green belt or black belt a plus.
  • ASQ Certification a plus, i.e. SQE, SQA, etc.
  • AS91000, NADCAP knowledge and understanding.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-year BS in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with relevant experience.
  • 5-10 years' experience in a quality function/role.
  • 3+ years' experience managing a quality organization.
  • Experience with a manufacturing organization, specifically precision metal machining.
  • Experience implementing/maintaining AS91000, NADCAP quality system or equivalent.
  • Experience in a related manufacturing work environment.
  • Experience leading a staff of 6 or more.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

COMPENSATION: $110,000 - $120,000 annually (final compensation will be determined based on experience).
