Job description

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $117,600 - $160,400 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Position Summary
The Quality Management System (QMS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization's Quality Management System in compliance with ISO standards (primarily ISO 9001). This role ensures that business processes meet regulatory, customer, and organizational requirements while driving a culture of quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Development & Implementation
  • Establish, document, and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Lead the organization through ISO certification, surveillance, and recertification audits.
  • Ensure all processes, procedures, and work instructions are documented, controlled, and effective.

Compliance & Auditing
  • Plan, conduct, and manage internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and certification bodies.
  • Ensure timely resolution of audit findings, nonconformities, and corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action).
  • Analyze quality data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a culture of quality and customer focus across all departments.

Document Control & Process Management
  • Oversee document control systems, ensuring proper versioning, approval, and accessibility.
  • Standardize processes and ensure alignment with QMS requirements.
  • Maintain records in compliance with ISO standards and company policies.

Training & Awareness
  • Develop and implement training programs related to QMS requirements and quality standards.
  • Ensure employees understand their role in maintaining compliance and quality objectives.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to teams on quality tools and best practices.

Risk Management
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the QMS framework.
  • Support risk-based thinking across the organization and ensure mitigation plans are implemented.

Customer & Supplier Quality
  • Address customer complaints and ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met and maintained.

Who will you report to?
  • You will report to the Quality Director. This role is an onsite position. You are required to report to the Cheektowaga, NY facility 5 days a week with occasional travel for audits or supplier visits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Administration, or related field (required). Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality management systems.
  • Proven experience leading ISO 9001 certification audits.
  • Experience in manufacturing, service, or regulated industry preferred.
  • Experience managing 5-10 people, including auditors, document control leaders and equipment calibrations

Certifications (Preferred)
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001 required; others such as ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 a plus)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Effective communication and training skills
  • Experience with audit management and root cause analysis
  • Proficiency in quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, CAPA)
