Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities by performing inspection, receiving verification, documentation review, and product/data processing in accordance with customer requirements, purchase order requirements, internal procedures, and the company's established QMS and Quality Manual. This role helps ensure materials, documentation, and completed work move accurately and efficiently through the quality process while supporting compliance, product integrity, and timely workflow through the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under minimal to no supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
  • Perform product and data receiving of purchased materials to verify conformance to purchase order requirements.
  • Perform external visual inspection using low power microscope.
  • Perform test data reviews to ensure product tested per specifications.
  • Accurately document nonconforming material and prepare NCMR data for MRB review and disposition.
  • Accurately and legibly fill out pertinent documentation, for example work orders/job travelers, inspection reports, corrective action database, etc.
  • Log completed jobs in ERP system and complete appropriate paperwork (control tags, job traveler, etc.) and moving product to the next stage for processing.
  • Prepare completed products and data for shipments.
  • Accurately update and maintain product and data inventory.
  • Assess customer returned material (RMA) and provide feedback to management for proper disposition.
  • Address inspection status questions or inquiries from sales or customers.
  • Carry out duties in a safe and responsible manner and abide by safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In addition to the above, Inspectors are to maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations while adhering to all quality practices.
Education and Experience
  • High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of aerospace, manufacturing, or test laboratory experience as an inspector.
  • Knowledge in the requirements of the Military specification for EEE products and Hi-Reliability products highly desired.
  • Knowledge in ISO9001, AS9120 standards highly desired.

Required Skills
  • Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written, and oral instructions. Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to perform inspection and handle electronic components under microscope. Familiar with proper ESD handling procedure. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, product specifications and work orders. Must have proficient knowledge with the use of computers and Microsoft Suite.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit 4-6 hours a day. Must be able to inspect products under 10X to 20X microscope magnification on a daily basis. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk and sit on a regular basis. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Customary physical demands for an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
