Quality Inspector
Shift: Monday- Friday 5:00am- 1:40pm
Pay Range: $23.75- 28.00
About the Role:
The Quality Inspector performs a thorough inspection of every trailer by comparing trailer to inspection criteria and sales order and recording defects onto iPad and Traveler. The inspector communicated repeat defects effectively upstream, including escalation of events to Supervisor and QA when needed. Utilize control plans to aid in manufacturing of quality products to meet customer requirements. The inspector finished the inspection by ensuring all required paperwork is retained and serial numbers entered into SAP.
Your Profile:
  • Minimum 1 year employment at Wabash
  • Must be able to pass a 3-day training class.
  • Basic reading /writing/ & verbal skills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • History of good attendance
  • Prior inspection experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret sales orders and drawings.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper follow through on all inspections and workmanship standards, critical to quality, schedules, and reports from management.
  • Provide accurate data of inspection.
  • Ensures product meets acceptable standards by understanding, enforcing, and facilitating the specific rules and guidelines as established by Quality Assurance, Wabash, and our customers.
  • Identifying damages, discrepancies, missing parts by inspecting trailers as per requirements
  • Persons performing inspections must be qualified through a training course.
  • Responsible for condition of the trailer in which it leaves.
  • Responsible for inspecting compliance to DOT and FMVSS requirements along with completing Federally required inspection documents.
  • Must be capable of self-management.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Reports to area supervisor, with dotted line to QA training team
  • Attend and participate in regular inspector round tables and on-going training sessions.

Physical Demands:
As a quality inspector, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle and operate tools or controls for the length of their entire shift. The employee needs full range of motion in their arms and hands in this position. All quality inspectors must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
