Position: Quality Engineer

Overview of the Quality Engineer Position:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving product and process quality within a manufacturing environment by supporting new product launches, investigating quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and promoting continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications while maintaining compliance with automotive quality standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing experience, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and expertise in quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.

Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer:

  • Support new product launches by developing control plans, quality documentation, inspection methods, and training materials.
  • Ensure manufactured products consistently meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for both new and existing products.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and related customer-required documentation.
  • Perform process capability studies and statistical analysis to ensure effective process control.
  • Investigate internal quality issues, scrap, and process variation to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Respond to customer quality concerns and coordinate resolution efforts with internal teams.
  • Work closely with suppliers and cross-functional departments to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Why and A3.
  • Train production personnel and other stakeholders on new or updated quality processes and verify competency.
  • Support internal audit, calibration, and quality management system activities.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer, internal, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 audits.
  • Complete corrective action reports in a timely manner while validating the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving the organization's IATF 16949 Quality Management System.

Preferred Experience of the Quality Engineer:

  • Manufacturing quality engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting new product launches in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
  • Experience utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies including 5 Why and A3.
  • Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and PFMEA.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing processes to reduce scrap and improve product quality.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.

Bonus Experience of the Quality Engineer:

  • Experience working within an IATF 16949 certified manufacturing environment.
  • Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience using Minitab for statistical analysis and process improvement.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 audits and quality management systems.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
