Job description

Westfield Electroplating Company Inc. (WEPCO) is seeking Quality Engineers to support our Quality Department. WEPCO Quality engineers are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining standards and procedures to comply with aerospace quality system requirements.

Skills/ Requirements

  • Attention to detail: WEPCO Quality Engineers must have the ability to see the fine details in the myriad of data presented to them. Separate the important from the unimportant
  • Analysis/Critical thinking/Problem-solving skills: WEPCO Quality Engineers may be asked to participate in root cause analysis, create process maps, use tools such as PFMEA to find the trouble spots and propose plans to correct them
  • Communication skills: WEPCO Quality Engineers must be able to communicate current and future requirements in a clear simple way to all levels of the organization, some technical some not
  • Interpersonal skills: WEPCO Quality engineers must have ability to work in a collaborative team environment with production personnel, general management and maintain a focused professional working relationship with outside customers and vendors
  • Computer skills: WEPCO Quality Engineers must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook)
  • Technical Reading and Writing skills: WEPCO Quality Engineers will be asked to read industry specifications and use them to write procedures and technical plans

Tasks May Include:

  • May enter data into computer terminal to store, scan, retrieve, and manipulate for the creation of company processing maps, travelers, and fixed processes
  • Submittal of Technical Plans to customers and/or prime contractors prior to processing parts
  • Review all customer documentation for the generation of the process traveler for the stated requirements
  • Must verify that processing is viable and if any changes (specification and customer compliant) are required
  • Assist in resolving customer technical questions to improve the quality of parts for increased business
  • Prepare test panels surfaces for quality tests
  • Run tests panels and or production parts on plating lines and document the results
  • Run hull cells and first article R&D related projects
  • Confers with processing engineers and project managers to obtain information on limitations and capabilities of existing process and capabilities required for special projects
  • Maintain a working knowledge of customer, government, and industry standards and specifications
  • Verify requirements for the inspection and testing to ensure process is up to date
  • Create and review travelers using WEPCO’s system software
  • Assist in preparation for Audits

Qualifications:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in a science related field.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • High attention to detail required
  • WEPCO Quality Engineers must be able to read blueprints and schematics
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense Industry is a plus but not required
