We are seeking applicants for a Quality Control Tech in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill.
The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.
The Quality Control Tech at our International Falls mill manages the quality testing programs for the mill. This position also leads in the implementation and evaluation of quality and technical measures and applications to meet performance and cost objectives.
Principle Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the management of mill laboratories. Ensures testing is done accurately and reported efficiently to operating departments to meet quality specifications, assist in trouble-shooting process changes and meeting production goals. Responsibilities include the selection and purchase of new equipment, routine supply inventory control and recommendations on purchase of measuring equipment for production crews. Responsible for the maintenance of test equipment and labs through work orders or contracted services.
  • Ensure that QMS requirements are met by contracting calibration services, participating in audits, and writing revisions to procedures. Works with departments to implement new procedures, designs, and provides training to operators to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide laboratory and trial support to engineers and operating departments to meet improvement goals. Meets on quality teams, presents data, and prepares reports to facilitate discussion and understanding.
  • Strive to continually strengthen PCA's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectation for customers specifically supporting PCA's Commitment to Service which involves doing what's right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work with all groups across mill and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform consistently and effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent people skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a current valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years of Laboratory/technical or Supervisor experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with additional electrical skills.
  • Must understand analytical procedures and equipment, and have strong problem solving, analytical, and computer skills.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary range for position: $78,400 to $110,000.
  • Paid Vacation.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions
