Job Title: Quality Control Chemist 2

Department: Quality Control

Reports To: Quality Control Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all required testing on drug products, cosmetics and medical devices according to product specifications
  • Properly documents all calculations and results in a laboratory notebook as well as the company electronic laboratory testing database.
  • Communicates with production planners and compounders regarding statuses of incoming samples and ongoing testing.
  • Willingness to cross train to perform other roles within the lab and assist coworkers with testing as needed.
  • Applies sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues. Participates in OOS investigations by providing data and supporting testing needs.
  • Writes Laboratory Investigation Reports (LIR) as required.
  • Identifies procedures that need to be updated and updates them with support as needed.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of laboratory issues or quality issues in production
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working environment.
  • Completes all training required per the Training Matrix for Quality Control Chemist 2.
  • Performs other tasks, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Sciencein Chemistry or related science and atleast 2 years of applicable laboratory experience
  • Experience with wet chemistry techniques (including making standard solutions, titrations, using pH or other electrodes, etc.)
  • Experience with advanced laboratory techniques including analytical instrumentation (including at a minimum, HPLC, GC, and FTIR),
  • Ability toapply concepts of basic algebra and geometryto lab related calculations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines intimelymanner
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a GLP/GMP environment inanFDA regulated manufacturing facility
  • Familiarity with Out of Specification (OOS) investigationseither in a supporting capacity or writing capacity

Pay Range

The QC Chemist 2 is a non-exempt position that is paid hourly. Pay rate will be dependent on a number of factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience.
