Quality Control Lab Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Lab Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all production batches and finished products meet the necessary quality control standards. This role involves conducting tests in accordance with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and FDA/GMP requirements. The technician will perform routine quality control activities, record observations and measurements, and report results. Additional responsibilities include cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining glassware and equipment, as well as assisting with the receipt and inspection of raw materials.

Responsibilities

  • Test and adjust production batches as required by formula and SOP; communicate and record adjustments.
  • Test finished products, stability, and validation samples using required methods.
  • Perform instrumental analyses using HPLC, GC, or TOC as needed.
  • Complete all paperwork, record keeping, and posting associated with approving and releasing batches.
  • Evaluate data for trends and author standard operating procedures and microbiological test methods.
  • Approve tankers for loading and unloading; record information and testing results.
  • Test products based on customer complaints or returns and retest returned goods for release or rejection as authorized.
  • Store samples as required and assist in maintaining retained samples.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock the QC area and lab with necessary materials.
  • Assist in environmental monitoring, including obtaining samples and conducting chemical or micro evaluations.
  • Operate computer programs for administrative duties to prepare, distribute, and maintain forms, charts, logs, graphs, and other written tools.
  • Assist in the company’s compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Communicate with other shifts regarding special microbiological testing and pertinent issues.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned, including special analytical projects and validations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in chemistry and laboratory work.
  • Experience in QC lab work, including wet chemistry and titration.
  • Knowledge of inspection, biology, biochemistry, and wet laboratory practices.
  • Skill in pH testing and gas chromatography.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry or a related science field.
  • Working knowledge of various testing apparatus, including HPLC and GC.
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

The role operates on the 3rd shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday through Friday morning, with occasional Saturday work based on production needs.
