Job description

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview

The Quality Control Technician will work with the Quality Control Team to ensure products stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance. The ideal candidate is familiar with Excel, Outlook, Word and other software systems and has a thorough understanding of Asphalt Paving & Construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, sample, and test aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for the purpose of quality control.
  • Sample and test mixtures to stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
  • Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
  • Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database.
  • Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas daily.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience
  • Asphalt Paving & Construction Experience required.
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Be available for overtime, extended hours and weekends as required
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Working Conditions

  • Be available for overtime, extended hours, overnight, and weekends as required
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.
