Job Description:

* The CMM Inspector position offers Level 1 - Journey Lvl. Wage scale provided reflects level 2 - 3.

The Quality Assurance - CMM Inspector 3 inspects machined components, sheet metal components, purchased products and standards, raw materials, assembled products and outside processing for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. The QA– CMM Inspector 3 provides leadership and training for other CMM Inspectors.

What will my responsibilities include?

• Reads and interprets aerospace manufacturing drawings, including tolerances, customer specifications and technical requirements.
• Operates CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to dimensionally inspect product.
• Manually inspects parts using CMM.
• Interprets CMM results to accurately compare product to engineering drawings/specifications and electronic models.
• Create and edit CMM programs in both online and offline mode.
• Accurately compares product to engineering drawings/specifications, purchase order, and manufacturing orders using common manual inspection equipment, (e.g., PCM’s, height gage, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges etc) to accept or reject product to customer engineering requirements.
• Documents product acceptance/rejection on manufacturing order, processes any necessary rejection documentation, and performs various MRP system functions.
• Performs Rockwell and Eddy Current testing for product acceptance.
• Understands and applies statistical sampling techniques.
• Audits procedures and processes of shop inspection.
• Reviews outside processing certifications of nondestructive testing, chemical processing, and finish, and verify physical appearance of final product for conformance to engineering specifications.
• Fully capable of understanding, performing, and completing FAI’s in accordance with Company and AS9102 requirements.
• Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What key skills and experience do I need?

• Leadership: Ability to train, mentor, and assist less-experienced QA CMM Inspectors and staff from other departments in skills, abilities and knowledge related to quality inspection.
• Attention to detail: Recognizes and identifies deviations from requirements.
• Communication: Effectively communicates verbally and in writing; accurately records inspection results, including descriptions of rejected product.
• Customer focus: Anticipates internal and external customer needs, gives high priority to customer satisfaction and service. Provides information and results accurately, courteously, in a timely manner.
• Organization: Keeps working area neat and organized. Arrives on time to work and works to meet deadlines efficiently. Records time using a computerized data entry system; completes job assignments within allotted times.
• Teamwork: Collaborates and cooperates with Manufacturing, Engineering, and other inspectors to resolve issues. Knows when to ask for information and assistance, and assesses the long-term impact of decisions. Demonstrates a willing, positive, and proactive attitude. Follows verbal and written instructions; works independently with a minimum of supervision.
• Company policy awareness: Understands and complies with company policies and guidelines as described in the Employee Handbook, the Employee Safety Manual and the Quality Management System. Complies with rules and procedures of a drug-free workplace.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

• A minimum of 10 years hands-on inspection experience operating a CMM in a regulated industry.
• Three to five years (recent) inspection experience operating a CMM in the aerospace industry.
• Certification in Advanced Level CAD systems (CATIA and AutoCAD).
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to perform all QA Inspector 3 Duties and Responsibilities (see QA Inspector 3 job description).
• Trade school or college courses in related fields (e.g., CMM, blueprint reading, GD&T).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment of this position is generally indoors in a well lit and ventilated area. This position works in a manufacturing environment throughout the workday. This environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes and vapor from coolant, etc. Individuals must stand for much of the workday. Work activities involve combinations of standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting and carrying. Work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and correctable vision to 20/25, or as per customer requirements. Salary Offering: $25.00 per hour to $37.50 per hour

Shifts available:

NIGHTS: M-TH, 4:00pm - 2:30am (see below for shift differential pay)

WEEKEND: Fri/Sat/Sun, 4:30am - 5:00pm (see below for shift premium and shift differential pay)
