  • Manager is looking for 2nd shift 4x10. Work days are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM
  • Candidate will be off Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Candidate must be open for occasional overtime if needed

What You Will Be Doing

  • As a Flex Shift Quality Assurance Lab Tech at our milk plant, you'll be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products.
  • Your duties will include conducting inspections of raw materials, monitor production processes, and performing various tests to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • You'll also be tasked with documenting findings, reporting any issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will play a crucial role in improving our reputation for delivering top-quality milk products to our customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished milk products.
  • Perform regular inspections of production processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and document equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address any quality-related issues promptly.
  • Evaluate trends from test results and communicate these trends to employees and management.
  • Implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food Safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in internal audits and assist with external audits as needed.
  • Record and analyze data and prepare reports on quality metrics. Ensure that daily records are kept and maintained.
  • Drive continuous improvement, assist in the discipline to maintain a 6-S rating of an "A".
  • Follow-up customer complaints and follow-up with production.
  • Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
  • Any other project assigned.

What We Are Searching For
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferable. High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum 1 year of QA experience.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance or a similar role in food production is preferred; however, candidates with microbiology or chemical laboratory experience are acceptable.
  • Strong mindfulness and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and duties as they relate to food safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work the specified shift and occasionally on weekends if required.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in window-based PC programs.
  • Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance preferred.
  • Some knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
