Job description

Title: Automotive Technician

Location: Newark, CA

Duration: 6 months (can extend further)

Pay rate: $35-41/hr

  • We are seeking Entry level self-starting technicians—or hands-on recent college grads—who operate like engineers on the floor: eager to learn on the fly, comfortable taking ownership of physical setups, and proactive in asking questions in a fast-paced lab environment.
  • We are looking for a highly motivated technician who can support the physical and mechanical demands of day-to-day dyno lab operations. This role operates without formal training, relying on seasoned tech peers for guidance. The ideal candidate—whether an experienced tech or a hands-on grad—takes pride in being actively engaged on the floor, managing physical setups, wire harness building, tool usage, and electrical safety.

DAY TO DAY

  • Physically install and set up test articles on test beds, including manual and automated testing setups (manual setup will be taught on the job).
  • Utilize basic shop tools daily (torque wrenches, drivers, power tools, measurement gauges/valves).
  • Build custom wire harnesses and handle basic 12V system wiring connections.
  • Execute standard and lower-risk non-standard test setups alongside seasoned technicians.
  • Exercise consistent safety, organization (5S), and strict precautions around high-voltage equipment and rotating machinery.
  • Update test tickets with basic findings and communicate directly with cross-functional engineering teams (engineers create test scripts; techs handle physical execution).

MUST HAVES

  • Experience Level: Recent college graduate (BS in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or AS in Automotive Tech) with hands-on project experience. OR Minimum 2 years of automotive/lab experience
  • Hands-On & Tool Skills: Moderate experience with shop tools (torque wrenches, power tools, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) and basic wire harness building/crimp work.
  • Electrical Safety: Strong understanding of electrical hazards and precautionary measures around 12V systems, high-voltage equipment, and rotating machinery (no formal certifications required, but tested during interviews).
  • Mindset & Ownership: True self-starter who takes initiative, asks questions when needed, and learns quickly without formal training.

Benefits:

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, paid parking/public transportation, (paid time , paid sick and safe time , hours of paid vacation time, weeks of paid parental leave, paid holidays annually - AS Applicable)
