This role requires someone with strong traditional QA fundamentals who is also a genuinely strong Python programmer. The ideal candidate can independently write and debug Python automation scripts from scratch, perform front-end and back-end/data validation, and own the testing lifecycle from understanding requirements through test-case development, execution, automation, and defect documentation. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Perform approximately 50% manual and 50% automated testing across enterprise applications.
  • Review Jira stories and requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans, test cases, scenarios, and use cases.
  • Independently develop automated test scripts from scratch using Python.
  • Debug Python automation code and troubleshoot failed automated tests.
  • Determine when application functionality should be tested manually versus automated.
  • Perform data-heavy testing to validate data flows throughout applications and underlying databases.
  • Validate front-end application behavior against back-end data and business logic.
  • Perform UI, data, functional, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
  • Test new features, application enhancements, and defect fixes.
  • Identify defects and document clear reproduction steps, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
  • Use SQL/database tools to investigate application behavior and validate data.
  • Manage test cases and test runs using BrowserStack or similar test management platforms.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standups and sprint activities.
  • Work within Jira and Confluence to manage requirements, defects, documentation, and testing activities.
  • Support CI/CD improvements as the team moves toward more frequent application releases.
  • Adapt quickly as testing priorities and project demands shift.

  • Strong experience across both manual and automated testing, ideally close to a 50/50 split.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Ability to independently write Python automation scripts from scratch.
  • Ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and debug existing Python code without relying on generated code.
  • Experience developing automated tests for production applications.
  • Strong manual testing fundamentals, including test cases, test plans, test scenarios, use cases, and defect documentation.
  • Experience testing both front-end and back-end application functionality.
  • Strong data and database testing experience, including validating data flows and application data.
  • SQL and/or PostgreSQL experience for back-end data validation.
  • UI automation testing experience.
  • Experience with automation frameworks/tools such as pytest, Selenium, Playwright, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with test management platforms such as BrowserStack, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or comparable Agile development tools.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and adapting to shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • JavaScript experience.
  • API testing experience.
  • Performance testing experience.
  • Understanding of unit testing and how unit tests are developed and incorporated into the development lifecycle.
