Job Summary:
Work within the quality organization and collaborate with other business areas and functions. Ensure that organizational quality systems and methodologies are implemented and followed as required, in order to achieve organizational and company goals. This position will report into a Value Stream and will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the Chesterton Quality System requirements across the Value Stream, divisions, services and project areas, with particular emphasis on the utilization of modern quality methodologies.
Job Model: On-Site
All fully remote positions have no regular expected onsite scheduled days. Fully remote employees may be required to come onsite due to business needs.
Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.
On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.
Responsibilities:
  • Consistent, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Participate in establishing a company quality standard and establishing metrics to measure progress.
  • Be responsible for measurements and notification of areas for improvement.
  • Achieve the facility/location and company quality objectives for assigned divisional/product line or project areas.
  • Implement/improve Operational and Quality System requirements within assigned functional area.
  • Develop and implement Quality System improvements, changes, and corrective actions directly resulting in major productivity gains, quality costs determination and reductions or solutions to complex quality problems.
  • Assist in executing a range of assigned projects in support of divisional/product line/sales/ marketing and company objectives and Value Stream plan-to win strategy. This includes occasional assignments to support New Product Development efforts in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Leads customer complaint investigation, requiring direct communication with our customers and Value Streams to include root cause identification and implement corrective actions.
  • Works independently or as a member of a team to effectively execute structure problem solving process to improve process/product quality consistency.
  • Successfully plan and assist in executing a range of assigned projects in support of divisional/product line/sales/ marketing and company objectives and plans.
  • Provide quality technology leadership in the implementation/maintenance of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, other quality/industry standards and Total Quality Management principles.
  • Prepare documents, records and reports as required for certified orders. Follow up on all communications internally and externally essential to operations. Assist in internal and external audits.
  • Secure data in a manner to ensure the company's interests are at all times protected.
  • Minimal international / domestic travel.

Complexity of Duties:
  • Work is highly independent, with instruction only given or special assignments.
  • Makes decision based upon sound judgment.
  • Contacts are with all levels of personnel including executive and senior management, across organizations, and internal and external customers in various organizations.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering mechanical/chemical discipline.
  • Quality Engineering certification plus 2 - 4 years of experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean and 6-Sigma certified a plus, but not required.
  • ASQ Certified Engineer certificate is highly recommended

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Negotiation, arbitration, presentation, audit and contract skills with internal and external customers, verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization together with computer skills.
  • Membership in a quality professional society/agency, i.e., ASQC-CQE, CQA, CRE desirable.
  • Possess or willing to obtain lead auditor certification in ISO 9001/14001 and perform internal and external supplier audits.
  • Possess or willing to obtain Green Belt / Black Belt in Six Sigma Quality.

Targeted pay range: $85,000 - $90,000/annually depending on experience
