Job Description:                                                                      
Position Summary:
The Quality Assistant General Manager (AGM) provides strategic and operational leadership over the quality assurance and quality control departments. This role is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining robust quality management systems across manufacturing facilities, ensuring full compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and continuous improvement targets. The Quality AGM coordinates cross-functional initiatives to resolve complex quality concerns, optimize production processes, and promote a culture of operational excellence.
 
Essential Job Functions & Duties:
  • Direct and oversee the implementation, updates, and compliance of the corporate Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate quality engineering teams, inspectors, and supervisors across designated plants.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for executive leadership, tier-1 automotive/manufacturing customers, and regulatory bodies on critical quality matters.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including PPM defect rates, scrap costs, and supplier quality performance.
  • Facilitate structured root-cause analysis investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Oversee advanced product quality planning (APQP) and production part approval processes (PPAP).
  • Manage and optimize departmental budgets, equipment acquisition, and testing laboratory resources.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive quality leadership experience within a high-volume tier-1 manufacturing environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or comparable automotive and industrial quality frameworks.
  • Proven track record of success in managing customer audits, PPAP submissions, and multi-site quality alignment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and Lean Six Sigma methodology (Green/Black Belt preferred).
