Job Summary:

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. ย  We are currently looking to hire a QFS Plant Assurance Leader based in our West Jordan, Utah yogurt manufacturing plant.

The QFS Plant Assurance Leader will work closely with Senior Plant Leadership. Ensuring continuous production in compliance with Quality and Food Safety requirements in all products, processes, and services produced by the Plant. Drives continuous improvement and excellence in quality standards to sustainably achieve consistent Quality and uncompromising Food Safety. Leads, implements, maintains and improves Manufacturing Plant Quality Managements Systems to ensure Superiority/Quality and Food Safety compliance to Danone and customer and market requirements. Develops work methods and contributes to continuous quality and efficiency improvements. Immediately reports any irregularities related to food safety. Through daily duties, always prioritizes the safety of both the product and the general work environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Ensure production executed in full compliance with regulatory, legal and Danone QFS standards (ISO, HACCP, 5PRP, NNS & NNE, GMP, Biovigilance, Traceability), considering customers/market/brands expectations.
  • Management of QFS programs: surveillance plan, external local requirements, running the process to get certified
  • Lead/coordinates audits (internal & external) required by QFS system and customers specific (ISO, HACCP, NNS & FSE, Biovigilance, Traceability, PRP, SBZ, HACCP, Traceability etc.) Defining corrective action plan and follow up of execution of corrective action plan and reporting the status and impact of their implementation.
  • Ensure efficient cleaning and sanitation compliant with FS standards and risk assessment. Optimization of the cleaning processes based on best practices and with cooperation to suppliers. Ensure appropriate pest control area security.
  • Coordinates the HACCP system in the plant:
    • Appointing the HACCP team and ensuring that all team members have appropriate experience and knowledge of the HACCP system.
    • Providing training for the HACCP team to ensure the system operates effectively.
    • Managing the implementation of the HACCP system in the factory, ensuring proper communication in this aspect.
    • Participating in the validation of HACCP plans (especially all CCPs and oPRPs) and ensuring that all actions are documented and approved.
    • Participating in third-party audits in the HACCP area.
    • Cooperating with HACCP coordinators from other factories.
    • Approving and assuring the execution of validation plans.
    • Ensuring that all processes covered by the validation plan/HACCP system are validated, including control measures.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of QFS scope in place, regular revision of QFS performance with robust action plan with use of tool PNC, RCA, CAPA, etc. Including non-conformity management & continuous improvement. Shares Quality Management System learnings with the Category to ensure fast improvement in the network. Contribute to actions aimed at creating procedures and standards conditions for First Time Right (FTR).
  • Consumer centric approach, management of all complaints (consumers and customers and authorities and NGOs) to ensure proper analysis, improvement in place. Ensuring that root cause analysis is conducted for each CC and actions preventing the recurrence of the same CC are implemented and validated.
  • Responsible for the effectiveness of the quality documentation system. Ensures relevant documentation is ready for authorities in all serious complaints: hospitalization, media involvement, etc.
  • Ensure that all employees are covered by the food safety and quality training program. Including Bamboo & Veeva management and training.
  • Promote a culture of quality mindset and desired behaviors across the plant, leveraging iCare program, engaging leadership and employees to insure a solid culture of quality.
  • Support the QFS digitalization of the plant. Danone QFS referent solutions implemented and effective adoption. Data completion and quality. Ensure the adequacy of statistical tools enabling proper control of conducted processes.
  • Provide monthly reporting and analytics of QFS performance KPIs animating the teams around drivers, trends and initiating consequent proactive actions.
  • Support the optimization of process and product costs. Supporting actions aimed at eliminating losses resulting from products not meeting their specifications.

Physical Demandsย 

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
  • Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head.
  • The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • The employee is frequently standing on a concrete surface for 2-4 hrs at a time during a shift and up to 12 hours on occasion
  • Occasionally, may need to climb stairs, step ladders, stool.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office and manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
  • Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate. ย

About You

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we're looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in food science or food technology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology or related fields, required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a Quality Assurance or related field within a food manufacturing or regulatory related function in food, pharmaceutics, medical devices or biotechnology, required.
  • Minimum 3 years leadership/management experience and having delivered tangible results within an integrated management system field, required.
  • Prior experience within a processing & manufacturing environment.ย 
  • Very good knowledge of the applicable Quality and Food Safety management systems (ISO, FSSC22000, PRP's, HACCP, GMP, GHP, etc.) and the application thereof.
  • Trained and experienced in auditing & project management
  • Very good knowledge of statistical evaluation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Communication, presentation and training skills
  • Strong Business & People Leadership Competencies demonstrated in previous roles.
  • Strong Danone Product Category experience preferred, or high risk, ready to eat categories.
  • Solid experience in Quality & Food Safety Management Systems
  • Good technical understanding of food science & technology, formulation, processing & equipment
