Job Description

Position Overview

Sustainable Facilities Management Solutions (SFMS) is seeking a Quality Control (QC) / Safety Manager to join our leadership team at our Washington, DC headquarters. This position is responsible for the integrity and safety of multiple facilities across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.

Working from our Madison St NW office, you will be the primary authority ensuring that all maintenance, custodial, and repair tasks meet the rigorous "Green Building" standards SFMS is known for. You will bridge the gap between high-level contract compliance and boots-on-the-ground safety execution.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control (QC) & Compliance

  • HQ Integration: Collaborate directly with SFMS executive leadership at the DC Headquarters to align regional performance with corporate sustainability goals.

  • Site Audits: Execute a rigorous inspection schedule across the DMV footprint, ensuring HVAC, electrical, and structural repairs meet SFMS standards.

  • Metric Reporting: Utilize CMMS data to track work order accuracy and response times, providing weekly "Health of the Contract" briefings to the Program Manager.

  • Deficiency Management: Implement a proactive "Zero-Deficiency" program, identifying potential issues before they are flagged by Government Quality Assurance.

Safety & Occupational Health

  • Safety Culture: Lead the implementation of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP) in accordance with local safety regulations. 

  • Regional Training: Conduct safety training and "Toolbox Talks" for field technicians at various Maryland and Virginia sites, focusing on high-risk urban facility maintenance.

  • Incident Response: Act as the lead investigator for any regional safety incidents, ensuring immediate reporting and the implementation of corrective safety measures.

  • Hazard Analysis: Review and approve Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for all complex maintenance projects within the region.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizen Only
  • Software requirements: Procore, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Quality Control and/or Safety management within federal facility operations or commercial construction.

  • Location: Ability to commute daily to our Washington, DC HQ and travel to regional sites (MD/VA).

  • Technical Standards: Deep knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926 safety requirements.

  • Certifications: * OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry).

    • USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certification (preferred).

  • Communication: Exceptional writing skills for drafting formal QC reports and safety plans for Government review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with "Green Building" methodology and LEED maintenance standards.

  • Local knowledge of the National Capital Region (NCR) facility landscape.
