Responsibilities: The Infection Preventionist LPN is responsible for the nursing center's Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) and functions as a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator and facilitator for staff in multiple nursing centers focusing on Infection Prevention - Control Activities, Employee Health, Outbreak Management and Outcome - Process Surveillance, to include identifying, investigating, analyzing, controlling and reporting infections. Ensure the quality of patient care as it relates to the investigation, control and prevention of infections and communicable diseases.
Integrate the Infection Control and Prevention program with the nursing centers' QAPI processes, is a member of the Center's QAPI committee, and regularly reports on the status on the IPCP.
Develop, implement and teach education programs in response to identified infection control needs identified through QAPI, rounding, center quality measures, or other means.
Support new hire orientation by providing infection prevention and control training for newly hired employees.
Review the immunization documentation for new hires to ensure regulatory compliance.
Oversee implementation and quality of the patient/resident influenza and pneumococcal vaccine.
Maintain infection prevention and control records per policy and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current practical or vocational nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing is required. Must complete specialized training in infection prevention and control within 90 days of hire. A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience is required and a minimum of two years of nursing experience in long-term care nursing with one year in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity is preferred. Previous experience in infection prevention and control is preferred. Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet with employees working evening and night shifts is required.
