Job description

Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a conscientious Quality “QC” Incoming Inspector to join its Brea, CA team! We are seeking a detail‑oriented professional who will ensure that all incoming materials, components, and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) meet strict engineering drawings, customer criteria, and industry standards before they enter our production line. The Incoming Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspections of printed circuit boards and custom parts such as connectors, BGAs, heat sinks, brackets, and other mechanical assembly components, recording results in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities of the Incoming Inspector:

  • Interpret Technical Files: Read blueprints, Gerber files, fabrication (fab) drawings, and engineering specifications to determine specified materials, cosmetic criteria, and workmanship requirements.
  • Perform PCB Inspections: Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of printed circuit board assemblies to ensure full compliance with IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610 standards, and customer specs.
  • Execute First Articles: Perform and record results for First Article Inspections (FAI) of boards when required.
  • Utilize Precision Tools: Operate precision measuring instruments—including calipers, micrometers, and pin gages—to verify adherence to strict drawing tolerances.
  • Manage Data & Documentation: Input detailed inspection results into the M2M database and verify the completeness of all documentation required by purchase orders.
  • Navigate Software Systems: Use internal computer systems to review documents, check files, and track quality workflows.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Assist with failure investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and overall quality improvement initiatives.
  • Other Duties: Handle additional quality-related tasks as assigned by management.
