Job description

Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector helps ensure that products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role performs inspection and quality-control activities across production, documents results, and works with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues. This is a mid-level, hands-on quality position: the technician works with a good degree of independence and is expected to handle routine and moderately complex inspection tasks without close supervision, but the role does not carry lead, supervisory, or quality-engineering responsibilities. The Quality Control Inspector supports the broader quality system and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of parts and assemblies against drawings, work orders, and customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and moderately complex GD&T callouts.
  • Use precision measurement tools-calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and similar equipment-to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Complete first article and other inspection documentation for new or revised parts under the guidance of the Quality Manager.
  • Document inspection results, maintain accurate quality records, and complete nonconformance reports for discrepant material.
  • Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming material; support root-cause and corrective-action discussions.
  • Maintain and help calibrate inspection gauges and measurement equipment; keep calibration records current.
  • Verify material certifications, traceability, and process paperwork accompany parts as required by the customer or contract.
  • Support internal audits and customer inspections; help maintain quality-system documentation.
  • Communicate quality issues clearly to production teams to help prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in training entry-level inspectors on basic inspection methods and documentation, as directed.
  • Follow all safety, PPE, and housekeeping requirements in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade certification in quality, machining, or metrology is a plus.
  • 3-6 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; this is not an entry-level position.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, and similar equipment).

Knowledge and Personal Attributes:
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision, while knowing when to escalate an issue.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and coordinating with production teams.
  • Sound, practical judgment when identifying and handling nonconforming material.
  • Comfortable working in a shop/manufacturing environment alongside production equipment.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach to supporting continuous improvement.
