Quality Assurance Analyst – Consultant

Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 Months

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Analyst/Consultant will be responsible for implementing comprehensive testing strategies, protocols, and procedures across multiple business processes, systems, and environments. This role will focus on designing, developing, executing, and maintaining formal test plans and automated test scripts to ensure software quality, reliability, and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both manual and automated testing, business process analysis, and test automation using Tricentis Tosca. The consultant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify testing requirements, develop test scenarios, execute test cases, document results, manage defects, and contribute to continuous improvements in testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy and Planning

  • Partner with QA leadership, functional teams, technical teams, and project stakeholders to execute comprehensive testing strategies and procedures.
  • Participate in test strategy discussions and provide recommendations regarding test coverage, methodologies, and automation feasibility.
  • Support test planning activities for projects, system enhancements, and routine changes.
  • Document end-to-end business processes and develop comprehensive test scripts for QA integration and regression testing.
  • Maintain alignment between enterprise business process hierarchies, procedures, and test cases.

Test Automation

  • Configure and execute test automation tools in collaboration with the Test Automation Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Create, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts using Tricentis Tosca.
  • Develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks, libraries, and utilities to support scalability and maintainability.
  • Execute automated test cases across multiple applications, systems, and environments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage, efficiency, and reliability.

Test Case Design and Execution

  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to design test cases based on business processes, functional requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
  • Design, build, and maintain formal test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases to validate application functionality and business processes.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage and accurate testing results.
  • Assist with root cause analysis when necessary to investigate testing issues and failures.

Test Data and Environment Management

  • Manage test data and ensure its availability, accuracy, and relevance for test execution.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to establish and maintain test environments.
  • Support environment readiness activities required for automated and integration testing.

Defect Management and Reporting

  • Document testing outcomes, defects, resolutions, and recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with development and functional teams throughout the defect resolution lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate quality assurance artifacts, test results, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards for test execution progress and defect resolution through closure.
  • Generate and present test automation reports to stakeholders, highlighting execution progress, test coverage, risks, and potential issues.

Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing

  • Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Implement industry best practices to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members on Tricentis Tosca automation best practices and testing techniques.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in software quality assurance and test automation.

Required Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as a Quality Assurance Test Engineer or Analyst, including both manual and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of software testing concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in business process analysis, modeling, and documenting end-to-end business processes for QA testing.
  • Moderate knowledge of Finance, Human Capital Management (HCM), Logistics, and Treasury business processes.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements, functional designs, and technical specifications and translate them into comprehensive testing artifacts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and defect management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with test automation using Tricentis Tosca, including Tosca Commander and Tosca TBox.
  • Knowledge of SAP and SaaS-based enterprise systems.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA and test automation during migration or transformation projects.
  • Experience performing change impact analysis and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with business process management and project management methodologies.
  • Experience working in both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Previous experience testing web applications, APIs, and mobile applications.
  • Tricentis Tosca certification, such as Tricentis Certified Professional – Tosca Testsuite.
  • Experience with additional testing tools and frameworks, including Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in test scripting or programming languages such as VBScript, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Knowledge of SQL and database concepts for data validation during testing.
  • Experience working with development teams and CI/CD pipelines.
