Job description

The Senior Supervisor, Purchasing at Chromalloy Material Solutions is responsible for leading and overseeing all procurement activities to support operational requirements. This role ensures the effective sourcing of aviation gas turbine materials, supplies, and equipment through strategic purchasing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost control. The position provides leadership to the purchasing team while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and supply chain best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute purchasing strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement aligned with business needs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, terms, and service levels.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance, quality, and delivery metrics.
  • Oversee contract negotiations and ensure agreements comply with organizational and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with operational and financial objectives.
  • Manage purchasing budgets and track cost-saving initiatives and performance metrics.
  • Analyze market conditions, pricing trends, and demand forecasts to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Coordinate with inventory, warehouse, and logistics teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Implement cost control measures and monitor spending to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop purchasing staff, conducting performance evaluations and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or a minimum of 8 years of progressive purchasing experience.
  • At least 5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Aviation gas turbine experience at an MRO or airline or leasing company.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supplier negotiations and contract management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Quantum Control or similar ERP system.
  • Experience with aviation Used Serviceable Material.
  • Some knowledge of PW4000, CF6-80C2, CFM56-5/7, V2500 engine types.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within purchasing or procurement.
  • Advanced knowledge of strategic sourcing and cost-reduction methodologies.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements and risk management within supply chain operations.
  • Strong strategic planning capabilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
