Job description

Purchasing Coordinator
Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring! We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for administrative support for the Purchasing department. This position will assist with order processing, vendor communication, data entry, and issue resolution, among other responsibilities as dictated by the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with the purchasing of materials, equipment and subcontractor services.
  • Reviewing plans, specifications and contracts to ensure that the correct items and quantities are purchased.
  • Collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Resolving vendor disputes, including product or pricing issues.
  • Communicating product changes to sales, construction and subcontractors.
  • Data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks for the department.
  • Assisting with field personnel training on purchasing procedures.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • General knowledge of purchasing procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with purchasing or inventory management systems
  • Ability to work well with individually or as a member of a team
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
