Job Overview

Reviews and approves purchase requests received from departments; identifies, analyzes, and resolves purchasing issues within other departments; responsible for identifying and recommending cost saving opportunities and processing improvements to Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, etc.

· Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

· Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.

· Prepares purchase orders, once requisition is approved, checking GL accounts, adding taxes and freight charges.

· Maintains procurement records, such as items purchased, costs, and delivery.

· Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

· Communicates with receiving to check open or delayed orders pending to receive.

· Partner with payables on vendor issues for payments, receiving, freight, etc.

· Maintain files for open and closed purchase orders.

· Maintains a working knowledge of the property, as well as current and upcoming special events.

Qualifications

· BS in Business, Accounting, or a related field.

· Requires 3-5 years’ experience in a purchasing-related role.

· Requires excellent task management skills and analytical abilities.

· Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication and managerial skills.

· Solid experience working with MS Office applications and databases is required.

· Experience with software containing inventory system and control functions - such as Foodtrak, Yellow Dog, or other - is preferred but not required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. and push, pull, or drag up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.
