Responsibilities:

  • Monitor fuel inventory levels daily, real-time
  • Solicit bids, review requisitions, and prepare purchase orders for bulk fuel purchase, spot buying, and wet hosing 
  • Secure purchase of product and services at the lowest possible price 
  • Coordinate with suppliers and locations the delivery of product at the correct volume
  • Coordinate load shifts based on local and global market to maximize cost-effective purchases
  • Work with purchasing management to negotiate and renegotiate contracts with majors and suppliers
  • Serve as subject matter expert and mentor in the department
  • Monitor changes affecting supply and demand
  • Continue learning as related to fuel procurement, products, services, suppliers, global factors, and environmental factors
  • Monitor contract compliance and recommend improvements to department management
  • Prepare and produce reporting for department management as related to RFQ pricing, actual costs, market lows and averages
  • Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Expert in purchasing and contract negotiations in the fuel industry
  • Possess strong computational and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with the fuel industry - distribution centers/racks, OPIS, ARGUS, pipelines, common terminology
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the team
  • Proficiency with Oracle procurement
  • Familiarity with Oracle RFQ
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Professional interpersonal skills with an excellent ability to communicate with all levels of employees and management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years in fuel procurement, preferably in logistics industry
