Job description

Overview
The Receiver is responsible for supporting backroom and inventory operations by accurately receiving, processing, and stocking merchandise while maintaining inventory accuracy and store standards. They inspect incoming merchandise, organize inventory, and help ensure products are available for the sales floor. The Receiver maintains a clean, organized backroom, supports overall store operations, and works collaboratively with the store team to ensure efficient merchandise flow and an exceptional customer experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the "Cavender's Culture" and support the company's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Accurately receive, process, and stock merchandise, including purchase orders, transfers, special orders, and returns, ensuring merchandise matches documentation and discrepancies are reported promptly.
  • Inspect merchandise for quality, accuracy, proper tagging, boot pairing, and label placement.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by organizing back stock, processing paperwork, and ensuring merchandise is stored according to company standards.
  • Operate and maintain receiving equipment, including barcode printers and handheld devices, to support daily receiving operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe backroom while assisting with overall store cleanliness, including routine housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with store leadership and team members to support inventory management, merchandise flow, and operational goals.
  • Train and provide guidance to stockers on receiving processes, merchandise handling, and backroom organization.
  • Remain attentive to store safety and security and promptly report receiving, shipping, inventory, or system concerns to store management.
  • Report to work on time and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
  • Understand and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with merchandising, inventory projects, and other assigned store tasks.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Ability to accurately receive, inspect, and process merchandise in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and position merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to safely use store equipment, including handheld devices, barcode printers, step stools, and dollies, in accordance with company policies. Certain equipment may only be operated by associates who meet applicable age requirements.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the business.
  • Ability to comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents, and apply them to daily tasks.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Associate must be able to read and understand English.
  • Associate must be able to stay alert and productive during assigned work hours.
