Job description

Job Posting: Fire Protection Purchasing and Logistics Manager

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Reports to:  Associate Vice President of Fire Protection

Location: Woodridge, IL

Located at our Woodridge, IL facility and reporting to the Associate Vice President of Fire Protection, this position will be responsible for managing shop operations for the Fire Protection Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks
  • Assist with shop loading and jobsite preparation
  • Monitor job schedules
  • Load and unload delivery trucks
  • Stock materials in appropriate quantities
  • Provide assistance to project managers and shop manager.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts.
  • Receive, unpack and arrange new shipments from suppliers and vendors.
  • Arrange and label material.
  • Perform periodic price audits to resolve price discrepancies.
  • Enter and issue Purchase Orders for orders.
  • Track equipment and material coming from vendors.
  • Maintain inventory including identifying shortages/overstocks of inventory items.
  • Pick material from inventory to fulfill orders for projects.
  • Clean and organize shop for efficient workflow.
  • Drive company trucks to job sites and deliver material.
  • Evaluate suppliers in terms of price, quality, availability, and other criteria.
  • Interact with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
  • Work with shop manager and superintendent to schedule shop truck deliveries.
  • Send out stock lists to multiple vendors for pricing and availability comparisons.
  • Assist service fitters with parts / material needs.
  • Maintain a good driving record and obeys traffic laws in company vehicles
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 21 years or older.
  • Valid Driver’s License; Class B License.
  • Aptitude for mechanics
  • Familiarity with hand tools
  • Capacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer services skills, and maintain a positive attitude while dealing professionally with co-workers, clients, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
