Job description

Overview
We are seeking a bilingual detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and supplies are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of supply chain management, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to meet organizational needs.

Purchasing Duties

  • Manage Supplier Relationship: Communicate with vendors to resolve order issues, negotiate better terms, and ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Place & Track Orders: Ensure timely ordering of products based on inventory needs and sales trends.
  • Develop and Maintain Purchasing Strategies: Creating specific ones per vendor focused on existing agreements and contracts.
  • Manage Supplier Relationship: Communicate with vendors to resolve order issues, negotiate better terms, and ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Monitor Inventory Levels: Prevent stock shortages or overstock situations by analyzing demand patterns
  • Process & Verify Invoices: Ensure accurate pricing and quantity verification before approving supplier invoices.
  • Monitor product pricing: Track cost fluctuations and report significant changes to procurement and sales teams

Product Specialist Duties

  • Analyze Market & Customer Trends: Track sales performance, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to recommend adjustments to product selection.
  • Assist in Product Selection & Sourcing: Work with procurement to introduce new products or optimize existing ones based on demand.
  • Ensure Product Quality & Compliance: Verify that incoming products meet Tolteca’s quality and food safety standards.
  • Support Promotional Strategies: Work with sales to identify products for special promotions or discounts based on inventory and market trends.
  • Maintain Product Data & Specifications: Ensure accurate product descriptions, pricing, and availability in internal systems and sales tools.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing: Provide insights on product trends to help develop sales strategies and marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Proven experience in buying commodities and proteins.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with inventory control practices and methodologies.
  • Proficient in MRP systems; experience with SAP Business One is a plus.
  • A degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
