About this position:
The Operations & Warehouse Technician will oversee the daily operation of the gas transmission materials warehouse. Review daily material requisition process while incorporating review of overstock report for excess materials on system. Validation of pedigree of materials received. Batching of the materials within the SAP linear asset management (LAM) system. Reconciling of materials issued, installed, and scrapped. Will research and purchase non-stores materials as requested and review daily transactions for reasonableness, utilizing various SAP reports to assist in daily duties. Responsible to oversee complete yearly inventory of all storage locations in gas transmission.

About this job:
  • Establish working relationships with vendors
    • Material requests
    • Quote process
    • Establish agreement on pricing for materials
    • Work directly with procurement group
  • Perform materials and supplied requisition and procurement procedures to meet the demands of gas transmission staff
    • Process material requests evaluating materials available and determining materials to order
    • Create purchase requests
  • Perform all tasks associated with receiving and shipping materials to/from vendors, suppliers, other warehouses and designated work sites.
    • Exception report for deliveries
    • Validate material documentation
    • Complete batching of the validated materials in the LAM system
    • Application of batch number or bar code
  • Perform required inventory functions
    • Monthly, quarterly, annually as required
  • Gather, prepare, and stage materials for all shop fabrication and field construction and maintenance work
  • Process all daily SAP transactions for issues, returns, transfers and receipts via PC or bar code hand held device
  • Process and review all reports to ensure on hand quantities/values, date of last physical inventory, open transfers/PO's are properly received, and review any other reporting necessary to perform job
  • Contact person for fleet and facility maintenance issues, oversee keeping warehouse, yards and all related equipment safe and orderly
  • Oversee and participate in plastic gas pipe expiration process, as required for gas transmission needs
  • Local contact for yearly company Obsolete Material Review
  • Manage the purchase and tracking of tool requests
  • Perform and document daily forklift inspections
  • Attend staff meetings, as required, to ensure efficient flow of materials and review job planning information
  • Assist in development of material standards, processes, and material specifications (masters)
  • Evaluate and improve layouts of warehouse and material yards for efficiency gains and safe operation
  • Respond/research/purchase requests from management and crews
  • Manage freight and small package shipping needs for Deer Lodge
  • Supervise temporary summer worker where applicable
  • Travel to other work locations with some overnight travel required (up to 25% to 30% travel per year)
  • Must be able to safely perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50lbs repeatedly
  • The ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position, consistent with applicable laws and reasonable accommodation requirements

  • Pipeline material knowledge is preferred
  • Knowledge of steel materials is preferred
  • Experience with asset tracking, inventory processes are beneficial
  • Knowledge of inventory procedures and warehouse safety
  • Computer skills are essential (email, Microsoft office, material management systems)
    • Experience with SAP platform and material management module is a bonus
    • Knowledge on SAP's linear asset management (LAM) system is a plus
  • Possess record-keeping, filing, and organizational skills
