Job Title:  Purchasing Agent - Manufacturing

Mercury has been at the forefront of the Point of Purchase display industry for the last 70 years.  Our professional knowledge and skilled craftsmanship comes from years of dedicated work and service. Currently servicing the point of purchase industry, consumer packaging, automotive packaging and process trays, as well as food packaging. Vertically integrated but specializing in thermoforming, Mercury has a reputation for quick turnarounds and quality plastic products that can be found in Mom-and-Pop shops all the way up to large, big box retailers.  Mercury operates out of a 140,000 square foot facility on Chicago’s west side, Franklin Park Illinois with our food packaging facility, and on the east coast in Baltimore Maryland.

 

Position Summary: 

Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company's needs for materials and services. Responsible for the processing of sales orders, assisting in procurement functions, inventory management of stock materials, and data entry in relation to production documentation

Role qualifications:

·       Ideally at least 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience.

·       Previous experience working in a “made to order” manufacturing environment.

·       Some college preferred. Business or related field a plus

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

·       Order processing including participating in order reviews, completion of all order formatting and verification of order entry guidelines in Made2Manage (ERP system), creating order files, creating labels and job travelers (production floor documents), managing stock material inventories, updating production documents upon completion of a project, and processing miscellaneous companywide purchasing when necessary.

·       Prepare purchase orders or quote requests.

·       Assist in purchasing raw materials and special components for and related to job creation.

·       Contact vendors with discrepancies on quantity, quality and status of orders.

·       Interface with all departments and resolves problems and issues with purchased items.

·       Interface with all departments on proper order entry guidelines

·       Assist and contribute to the control of inventory tracking systems.

·       Reviews quote proposals and negotiates within limitations and scope of authority.

·       Be able to do in-depth analysis of processes including ability to produce reports of recent activities and efficiencies.

·       Update information from traveler (production floor documents) to job orders.

·       Maintain and update stock material Inventory.

·       Processing of all orders in m2m and purchase orders with all Mercury vendors

·       Daily management and interaction with excel documents to assist in inventory management.

·       Employee may be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

 

Essential skills and experience:

 

·       Strong knowledge in all areas of purchasing, sourcing processes, and negotiations.

·       System based knowledge specifically ERP systems, preferably Made 2 Manage.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

·       High degree of organization, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
