Purchasing Specialist

Through our nine locations across Texas and Kansas City, MO, we provide a comprehensive array of products, services and integrated systems that help our customers streamline the storage and movement of their goods.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for executing the day-to-day purchasing activities for both direct and indirect materials and services. This includes creating purchase orders (POs), monitoring delivery schedules, resolving supplier delays, and contributing to supplier performance evaluations. The Purchasing Specialist works cross-functionally with key departments-Parts, Service, Rental, Used Equipment, Fleet, and Sales-to ensure material availability aligns with operational needs. This role requires a highly analytical, data-driven individual with strong communication skills who can help drive cost savings and limit purchase price variance (PPV). The Buyer also supports the supplier sourcing process as an advisor and partner in supplier development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Create accurate and timely purchase orders for direct and indirect materials and services.
  • Monitor open POs to identify and mitigate delays that may impact availability.
  • Communicate proactively with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met or corrected quickly.
  • Provide data and insight to support supplier scorecards and performance reviews.
  • Participate in supplier sourcing and selection as a subject matter advisor.
  • Analyze purchase price variances and support efforts to reduce overall procurement costs.
  • Maintain purchasing data integrity within the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
  • Collaborate with Procurement leadership on cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align purchasing strategies with operational demands.
  • Track and report on procurement KPIs, including on-time delivery, PPV, and supplier responsiveness.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally in a multi-departmental environment.
  • ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Experience with procurement analytics and reporting tools is a plus.

They may occasionally stand, walk, or lift up to 25 pounds, like files or office supplies. The work environment is climate-controlled with moderate noise, and employees.
