Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a results-driven individual to join our team as a Buyer for our plant operation located in Clinton, IL. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Buyer will support the facility and play a critical part in managing supply chain and logistics activities to include procurement, inventory management, production planning, vendor coordination, and material movement.  We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can drive improvement through data, communication, and operational excellence.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Manage procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection, and distribution functions 
  • Monitor and maintain the Estimated Checkbook daily as a purchasing guide 
  • Ensure timely delivery of MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) and core spend items to support equipment and facility needs 
  • Use Material Requirement Planning reports and historical purchasing data to estimate future requirements 
  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with vendors 
  • Prepare and process purchase orders for external customers and internal use 
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies related to Accounts Payable 
  • Plan and monitor inbound material movement from suppliers 
  • Align purchase requisitions with maintenance requirements 
  • Ensure proper PO and receipt recordkeeping is consistent with Arcosa policy 
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners 
  • Manage Purchase Credit Card transactions and submit monthly reports 
  • Respond quickly to urgent purchasing needs under high-pressure situations 
  • Other duties as assigned 

What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least 3 years prior relevant experience 
  • MRO procurement experience required  
  • 3 years of experience in heavy industrial manufacturing preferred  
  • APICS certification preferred 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in computer applications – Excel, Word and ERP systems 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities 
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to interact across all levels of the organization
